Knee therapy after pain or surgery

Physiotherapy uses exercise and hands-on treatment to reduce pain, improve bending, and make walking steadier. The programme is chosen after the knee is examined. You are shown what to practise at home, and the plan is adjusted if an exercise sharply increases pain.

For many patients this is enough to improve daily activity. When the arthritis is already severe, therapy still helps you prepare for surgery and recover afterwards. It does not rebuild worn cartilage.
